Ceramic artist and Illustrator
I’m Jessica Baldry, a ceramic artist and illustrator based in Norwich. I’ve been a practising artist for over ten years, following the completion of my BA in Ceramics. My work has always been shaped by a deep interest in pattern, surface and design.
In 2016, I launched my first greetings card collection, which marked the beginning of my illustration practice. Working primarily with papercut and collage, my illustrations are inspired by the natural world and draw on botanical forms and traditional folk art influences.
Over time, this visual language has naturally found its way into clay. I now create handmade, wheel-thrown stoneware pottery, where illustration and form develop together. Since moving to Norwich, I’ve been honing my throwing practice from a shared studio at Fire & Flux Community Pottery.
I work slowly and thoughtfully, allowing each piece to take shape through touch, time and attention. My stoneware vessels are hand-painted with botanical slip decoration and finished with soft, natural glazes that highlight the warmth of the clay beneath. Through these tactile objects, I hope to offer moments of stillness; a quiet connection to form, texture and the beauty found in everyday simplicity.
